TCCU Partners with Texhoma Christian Care Center to Implement Direct Deposit Program
Texoma Community Credit Union has been chosen by Texhoma Christian Care Center to assist in the implementation of a sweeping employee direct deposit program which will reduce costs, increase security, and speed payments to approximately 250 employees. Texhoma Christian Care Center, a nonprofit facility that is one of the largest of its kind in north Texas, had long sought a solution to its growing payroll challenges.
Randy Sullenger, Texhoma Christian Care's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) met with TCCU's President and CEO, Wayne Mansur, to discuss their options. At that meeting, Wayne offered to administer all of Texhoma Christian Care's direct deposit transactions, regardless of whether the employees had accounts at TCCU or not. Randy liked what he heard and directed Kelly Hughes, TCCC's Human Resources Director, to make it happen. In initial meetings, Kelly expressed several concerns about their old way of issuing paper checks to their staff members. The process often involved people standing in line for long periods of time, waiting for their checks. If a key person was late or ill, checks could be delayed. Once staff members had their checks, they then had the challenge of cashing them before the banks closed, which often meant they had to take time off from their duties. And while lost or stolen checks were not a current problem, it was, nevertheless, a potential concern for some. After a demonstration and test of the Direct Deposit system, she was enthusiastic about the system and its benefits for TCCC. Subsequent meeetings with small groups of TCCC staff members have been arranged, and will continue on a regular basis at TCCC. At these meetings, staff members are given a demonstration of how Direct Deposit saves them time and money while keeping their money more secure. They are also given an opportunity to become members of Texoma Community Credit Union, and if they choose to do so, accounts are opened immediately, on-site. Kelly expressed her enthusiasm for the program, saying, "You guys are awesome! You've been a great help. I look forward to having you speak to our employees." TCCU President Wayne Mansur looks forward to a long and mutually rewarding strategic partnership with Texhoma Christian Care Center, saying, "TCCC will benefit immensely from having a more efficient and secure payroll, their staff members will appreciate the time and money saved with Direct Deposit, and we get to tell our story and explain the credit union philosophy of service and community involvement. If some of their staff become credit union members, all the better. The bottom line is, everybody wins!"
